This newly installed Conipave pathway provides seamless wheelchair access to the existing swing area, creating a more inclusive play environment. Designed to improve accessibility for children of all abilities, the pathway ensures safe, comfortable access while enhancing the overall usability of the playground.
Safety Surfacing Installation - Hampshire
Community-focused design with sensory and social play
This community-led project transformed a disused section of the hall grounds into a multi-use play space with inclusive priorities. Project goals emphasised social interaction and accessible play. Equipment included a wheelchair-accessible roundabout, inclusive swing bays and low-height climbing and balancing features. Surfacing combined tactile rubber tiles at entrances with poured-in-place safety surfacing around impact zones. Materials were chosen for vandal resistance and ease of cleaning. Accessibility features extended to seating, clear sightlines for carers and an accessible picnic area adjacent to the play space. Community trustees reported strong local engagement and positive feedback from families. The gallery shows pre-installation surveys, progress photos and final layouts.
